Third-st, killed almost instantly at 8:30 p.m. Friday when run down by an automobile, await the arrival of a son. An automobile at Main and Third-sts, driven by Henry Shears, Fifth and Main-sts, struck Mrs. Shappell, causing internal injuries which resulted in her death a short time later. Third-st, killed almost instantly at 8:30 p.m. Friday when run down by an automobile, await the arrival of a son. An automobile at Main and Third-sts, driven by Henry Shears, Fifth and Main-sts, struck Mrs. Shappell, causing internal injuries which resulted in her death a short time later. Due to a dust cloud caught up by a wind storm, it is declared by witnesses, Shears was unable to see the aged woman, who was crossing from the home of her son, Harvey L. Shappell, 114 W. Third-st to her own home at 111 E. Third-st. Mrs. Shappell was born on July 30, 1853, and was the widow of Solomon Shappell. She is survived by five children. They are Mrs. Bertha Leon, of Marion, Ohio; O. B. Shappell, of Wichita Falls, Texas; Raleigh Shappell, of Sedan, Kansas; Louise Shappell of Oakland, Cal., and Harvey Shappell of 114 E. Third-st. Surviving sisters are Mrs. Anna Bowsher, of Ewing-av; Mrs. Julia Reel, of E. High-st and Mrs. Aritta McClintock, of Wapakoneta. She had 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
