Description	:	Obituary Sadie Rake, wife of Sam Rake, old settlers of this community, died at Yankton, S.D., March 10, 1932. Her demise resulted from pneumonia. She was born in Ireland February 23, 1866, and was 66 years and 16 days of age at the time of her death. At the age of three years she came with her parents to the United States, her parents settling in Iowa, where her girlhood was passed. Read More	Obituary Sadie Rake, wife of Sam Rake, old settlers of this community, died at Yankton, S.D., March 10, 1932. Her demise resulted from pneumonia. She was born in Ireland February 23, 1866, and was 66 years and 16 days of age at the time of her death. At the age of three years she came with her parents to the United States, her parents settling in Iowa, where her girlhood was passed. On April 9, 1883 she was married to Sam Rake of Niobrara, Nebraska. To this union four children were born, three boys and one girl. She is survived by her husband, Sam Rake; two sons, C.J. Rake of Hill City, S.D.; Harry D. Rake, Rapid City, S.D.; one daughter, Mrs. Paul Ickler, Faulkton, S.D.; eleven grandchildren and five greaat grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Mrs F.I. Towne, Mrs. Jennie Phinney, Mrs Mae Carpenter, all of South Omaha and Mrs. Elmer Rake, Carlton, Oregon; also three brothers, John Taylor, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Robert Taylor, So. Omaha, and L.M. Taylor, Decker, Montana. Mr. & Mrs Rake lived on a farm southwest of Creighton for several years during the early days. About nineteen years ago they removed to Faulkton, S.D., where they made their home for several years, later removed to Rapid City, S.D. Funeral services for Mrs. Rake were held at the Hengular & Son Chapel on Saturday afternoon, at 3:30 p.m. in charge of Rev. Wm. E. Wilson. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery. Mrs. F.L. Towne and Mrs Jennie Phinney of South Omaha, sisters of the deceased were in attendance at the funeral. Published in the Creighton News, 17 Mar 1932. This obituary thanks to Gayle Neuhaus.
