Description	:	Sarah "Sallie" Jackson was the ninth child of thirteen children of the union of Jacob M. Jackson and Delilah Williams. She was born in Harlan Twp, Warren County, Ohio, on 23 Feb 1844. When Sarah was 14 years old, she lost her mother Delilah, who died on 18 March 1858. When Sarah was 17 years old, her father Jacob M. Jackson married his second wife Elizabeth Stiles Long on 21 Apr 1861. On 26 Aug 1866, Sarah Jackson (age 22) married James Long (age 27), her step-brother, in Warren County. Jackson married his second wife Elizabeth Stiles Long on 21 Apr 1861. On 26 Aug 1866, Sarah Jackson (age 22) married James Long (age 27), her step-brother, in Warren County. The 1870 census finds James and Sarah Jackson Long living in Harlan Township in Warren County with their daughter Olive (who was to die before 1880). James Long was working as a journeyman blacksmith. Another daughter, Myrta, was born in Warren County, Ohio, in November of 1870. Their sons Forrest, Clyde, and Otto were born in Iowa in 1873, 1876, and 1877 respectively. Three censuses trace their lives from 1880 to 1900. The 1880 census shows the family on a farm in Des Moines Township in Van Buren County, Iowa. An 1885 Iowa State Census shows the family living on a farm adjacent to the farm of James and Druzilla (Jackson) Taylor. Druzilla is an older sister of Sarah (Jackson) Long. The 1900 census finds James and Sarah Long living in a home in Van Buren Township in Van Buren County, Iowa. Sarah Jackson Long died one day before her birthday on 22 Feb 1912 at the age of 68 years in Van Buren County, Iowa. She was buried at Pittsburg Cemetery in Pittsburg, Iowa. ------------------------------------------ Sarah's husband, James Long was born 10 Aug 1839, presumably in Warren County, Ohio. His mother was Elizabeth Stiles Long, who was born in Vermont. She was later to marry Jacob M. Jackson (1804-1870) after the death of Jacob's first wife Delilah Williams (1804-1858). James Long's father was William Long (1800-1844), who was buried at Carson Cemetery in Warren County, Ohio. James Long is found in the 1850 census living with his mother and five siblings, along with another woman and her two children. In the 1860 census, he is living in the household of a George Ent, where he is working as a blacksmith.
