The Perry Mirror, Thursday, March 18, 1915, page 4: Sarah Quinlan was born in the year 1839, in County Killkenny, Ireland, and died at her home near Newman, Kans., March 13, 1915. In her early life she came to America and first settled at Leavenworth. In later years she removed to Lecompton and then came to the vicinity of Perry. At the age of 22 she was united in marriage to Wm. Quinlan and to this union eight children were born. Six of these survive the mother: Mrs. Wm. Lawlor, Mrs. John Montague, John, Thomas, Sadie and William Quinlan. Deceased also leaves a brother, John Shortall and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Quinlan of Newman and Mrs. Lippert of Topeka. Mrs. Quinlan was a devout member of the Catholic church and it is said of her that the chief aim in her declining years was to do good unto others. Her charity was extended unto all and this lesson she learned well from Him who said, "Learn of me, for I am meek and humble." Funeral services were held at the Catholic church at Newman, last Monday. Rev. Father Herron offered up the Requiem High Mass and paid a glowing tribute to the Christian character of the deceased. The services were attended by a large circle of relatives and friends.
