This memorial said, from 2015 to 2019, that, "This is a cenotaph (a headstone with Sarah's name (as wife of her first husband) and date of birth on it, but she is not buried here because she is buried with her second husband under the name of Sarah Holmes). Cenotaphs may be the subject of their own Find A Grave memorials, acknowledging, in this case, that the name Sarah T. Wright is on the stone with her first husband's name. However, F.A.G. contributor Scotty, in a 5-25-2019 SAC, posited a reasoned argument that Sarah is, in fact, buried in Hillsboro Cemetery with her first husband, even though her date of death and her 2nd husband's name were never engraved on the stone (in which case, of course, it would not be a mere cenotaph): "Suggested edit: I think that this Sarah is actually buried in Hillsboro with her first husband. Obviously the stone was engraved before she was married to William Holmes, so nobody updated that or changed the name, but it is an extremely common practice to bury a widow with first spouse, especially when children were produced of that union. Who is going to care other than those children? I would want my parents in the same place, as the surviving child. Sarah's death certificate says she is buried at Hillsboro, not Highland, and there is no monument for her at the Highland Cemetery with William, as there is for each of William Holmes's other wives. I spent a good deal of time there researching my personal history (William is my ancestor). Burial at Hillsboro with John Wright is most probable.
