C, Dunlap at Sidling Hill, Pa., in 1854. Ten children were born to them; nine living and one dead. Lobb (unknown newspaper, unknown date) Mrs. Sarah Stallman-Dunlap was born near Pottsville, Pa., February 14th, 1835, and was married to L. C, Dunlap at Sidling Hill, Pa., in 1854. Ten children were born to them; nine living and one dead. The living are: Mrs. Frances Cover, Walnut, Kansas; Mrs. Jennie Weeden and Mrs. Belle Keeting, Florence, Arizona; Mrs. Alice Leatherman and Mrs. Anne Richie, Pittsburg, Kansas; Mrs. Lucy Vaughn, La Harpe, Kansas; Miss Bertha Dunlap, Walnut, Kansas; Oren Dunlap, Englevale, Kansas; Wm. Dunlap, Pueblo, Colorado. The family moved from Pennsylvania to Iowa in the spring of 1856, and in the fall of 1869 came to Kansas and settled on the farm now owned by Mr. Joe Wampler. Later Mr. Dunlap bought the farm where they now live. She died at the family home Monday, January 5th, 1903, after an illness of only about one week. The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church Tuesday afternoon at 1 0'clock, conducted by Rev. J. M. Johnson and Rev. P. B. Knepp. A large audience assembled to pay their last tribute of respect to a devoted wife, a loving mother, a kind neighbor, and a faithful Christian woman. Her mortal remains were laid to rest in Glenwood cemetery. She was converted at a Methodist revival meeting at Salina, Iowa about 44 years ago. Eighteen years ago she joined the United Brethren church, and at the time of her death was a member of the society of the Valley Church, Neosho County. Death came to her at the dawn of the day. The shades of night had passed away. The golden rays of the morning sun were streaming in at the window when she turned her face toward the Rescue City. The faithful companions of her youth and part her loving children were at her bedside. Her feet went down into the cold stream and her soul passed over on the other side. Quietly and calmly she gave up her life on earth to live again in that beautiful land beyond the stars. No night of sorrow and no pain of death ever enters there. They build no coffins, dig no graves, preach no funerals and sing no requiems. The glad songs of praise go up, and the perennial fountains flow on forever. It is the home of those who have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Advanced in years, beloved by her husband and children and respected by her neighbors and friends she has been gathered home. The breaking up of the home where father and mother lived, and toiled so many years is one of the sad things in life. Days of happiness cluster around that old hearthstone. Too soon they are numbered with the years of long ago. Those familiar scenes with father and mother in the old home are things of the past. There is one vacant chair; it is mother's.
