Burial will be in Geneva (Nebraska). (The Gazette, Geneva, Nebraska 7 June 1901.) DIED – THOMAS – At Lincoln, Neb., at 5:10 p. m., Sunday, June 2, 1901, of meningitis, Sarah, wife of Giles S. Thomas of Geneva, Neb., aged 54 years, 4 months and 16 days. She was born in Coshocton, county, Ohio, January 17, 1847. She married Giles S. Thomas in Jefferson county, Iowa, January 13, 1876. One daughter was born to them, who is left with her father to mourn the sudden taking away of her mother. Mrs. Thomas was converted in her girlhood an became a member of the Presbyterian church with her parents, but upon her marriage she transferred her membership to the Methodist church with her husband and continued to be a member until her death. It was never her disposition to be prominent in public affairs; her life was of a quiet, domestic turn, and while not prominent in church work she was faithful in attendance and took a deep, quiet interest in its success. She went to Lincoln expecting to receive special surgical treatment, but before doing so her trouble developed into meningitis, which soon ended in death. Her husband and daughter were with her doing all that loving hands could do, but to no avail. The remains were brought home on Monday and the funeral service was from the family residence Tuesday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. F. A. Colony. The family feels very grateful to the many friends who were so prompt in many expressions of sympathy. (Nebraska Signal 07 JUN 1901 pg 7)
