He passed to the great beyond at his home in Chelsea township, Fillmore county, Nebraska, Monday, September 9, 1929, aged 46 years 8 months, and 12 days. He passed to the great beyond at his home in Chelsea township, Fillmore county, Nebraska, Monday, September 9, 1929, aged 46 years 8 months, and 12 days. Mr. Berger was united in marriage to Amelia Gabriel, June 20, 1906. To this union were born six children. Clarence E., who died at the age of four weeks; Glenn Charles, who is in the United States Navy at Corinta, Nicaragua; Robert, Mildred, Donald and Howard at home. Mr. Berger had resided in Chelsea township fifteen years, moving there from his old home at Shelby. Mr. Berger was a member of the Chelsea United Brethren church of which he was a faithful attendant. During the recent months, even though in failing health, he was almost always found in the Sunday school and church services. His entire life manifested a noble spirit of a true Christian, a living example of the Christ in self-sacrifice, humility, love and service, both in the church and community. In the home he was a true companion and a kind and loving father. Mr. Berger was a member of the Masonic lodge No. 79, A.F. & A.M., at Geneva, also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. He leaves to mourn his departure, his beloved wife, four sons and a daughter, his father, Fred Berger of Shelby, three brothers and five sisters, Harry of Seattle, Wash. Kenneth of Ogden Utah, Fred of Santa Barbara, Cal. Jennie Thayer of Ogden, Utah, Olive noble of Pocatello, Idaho, Minni Scow of Shelby, Neb., and Grace and Ester of Los Angeles, Cal. The funeral service was held at the Chelsea church at 2 p.m. Thursday. Rev. Raymond Bryant of York conducted the service. The Masonic order was in charge. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. "A precious one from us has gone, Avoice we loved is stilled. A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. God in His wisdom has recalled, The boon His love has given And tho the body slumbers here The soul is safe in heaven." The Nebraska Signal September 19th, 1929 page 1.
