Description	:	Scott Briggs, a senior in Exeter High School, passed away in an Omaha hospital Thursday, March 23, 1961, following an illness of only two weeks. The illness was diagnosed as acute leukemia. His death was a great shock to the community as he had been participating in his usual activities until he was hospitalized. Read More	Scott Briggs, a senior in Exeter High School, passed away in an Omaha hospital Thursday, March 23, 1961, following an illness of only two weeks. The illness was diagnosed as acute leukemia. His death was a great shock to the community as he had been participating in his usual activities until he was hospitalized. Scott Allan, son of Max and Mildred Noxon Briggs, was born April 2, 1943, in Seward, Neb. Scott started his schooling at Beaver Crossing and moved with his parents in 1950, to Exeter, where he continued his schooling. Active in student affairs, he had served as class officer, as a member of the Student Council, had worked in various musical groups, was keenly interested in athletics and was business manager of the School Annual. He was a star player and was captain of the basketball team the past season. Scott joined the Methodist Church in 1956, willingly serving the church in whatever task was requested. He was president of the Exeter Methodist Youth Fellowship. His passing from this life leaves his parents and three sisters, Judith, Jane and Kristie, of the home; many other relatives and uncounted friends, to carry his memory. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at the Exeter Methodist Church, Rev. Harold L. Dodson officiating. Interment was in the Exeter Cemetery.
