Description	:	Scott R. Kidney, 90, Holton, died Sunday, April 20, 1986, at a Topeka hospital. Mr. Kidney worked in the maintenance department for Ottawa University at Ottawa before he retired. He was born Feb. 7, 1896, at Holton, the son of Clinton O. and Maria Pope Kidney. He lived at Ottawa 35 years before he returned to Holton in September 1985. He served in the Army during World War I. Mr. Kidney attended Holton High School and Ottawa University. He was a carpenter in which he worked with his father and brothers constructing many of the older homes in the Holton community. ... Read More	Scott R. Kidney, 90, Holton, died Sunday, April 20, 1986, at a Topeka hospital. Mr. Kidney worked in the maintenance department for Ottawa University at Ottawa before he retired. He was born Feb. 7, 1896, at Holton, the son of Clinton O. and Maria Pope Kidney. He lived at Ottawa 35 years before he returned to Holton in September 1985. He served in the Army during World War I. Mr. Kidney attended Holton High School and Ottawa University. He was a carpenter in which he worked with his father and brothers constructing many of the older homes in the Holton community. He was an avid sports fan, playing baseball on the Holton Men’s Team and at Ottawa University as well as officiating other sports. His dreams of playing baseball became shattered because of a knee injury while in training with the Chicago Cubs. He was married to Ellen McAsey Oct. 25, 1921, at Holton. She died Jan. 11, 1985. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Howard Kidney and Emmett Kidney, and a half-brother, Guy Kell. Mr. Kidney was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church at Holton. Survivors include a sister, Leatha M. Premo, Mount Dora, Fla., and nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, Holton. Burial was at Mount Calvary Cemetery at Holton. Pallbearers were Forrest Kidney, Bob Kidney, Merlin Arnold, Roger McAsey, Bill McAsey and Darrell Premo. Memorial contributions, yet to be designated, may be made and sent in care of the Farmers State Bank, Circleville, Kan. 66416.
