Read More	Selma Iverson, 80, of Cresco, IA passed away at her home while surrounded by her loving family after a four month struggle with cancer on Thursday, March 21, 2013. Selma Gwendolyn (Benson) Iverson was born on October 10, 1932 at home north of Ridgeway, Iowa to Arthur and Angeline (Anderson) Benson. She was baptized on November 6, 1932 and confirmed on January 4, 1948. She attended the country school house near her home and High School in Ridgeway. She was the organist at the Orleans Lutheran Church in her teen years and retiring from that when their 5th child was born. Selma was united in marriage to Lauren H. Iverson in the Orleans Lutheran Church on October 18, 1950. This union was blessed with seven children. They farmed for 17 years. In January of 1968, they purchased the Hovden Grocery Store in Ridgeway. In 1970 they moved to Davis Corners, and she worked as the secretary at State Farm Insurance in Cresco. They became members of First Lutheran Church in Cresco. She served as secretary of the Church Council and in July of 1973 they moved to New Hampton and lived there for 13 years, and there they joined the Trinity Lutheran Church and Selma was a member of the choir. She worked with her husband in construction, and for Mel Reicks in interior decorating and finishing. She also worked at Meinertz Creamery for a short time, and in the quality control department at Sara Lee. In the spring of 1978 she began her beloved Selma's Bridal Boutique business and sold it in the fall of 1984. In 1985 they moved back to Cresco, spending time with her parents and children, also enjoying her sewing, quilting, alterations of wedding gowns, and First Lutheran church activities. She was preceded in death by her husband Lauren, her parents Arthur and Angeline Benson, one brother, Andy Benson, a niece Shelly Wessel, and a daughter-in-law, Boonmak (Cat) Iverson. Cemetery: It was Selma's wish to be cremated following services. Her remains will be laid to rest at a private family service at a later date at Orleans Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Cresco, IA.
