Description	:	Early homesteaders in Perry township, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick H. Stubsten located on their farm claim two miles west of Lennox in 1878. These early pioneers were both born in Norway. Mr. Stubsten was born September 29, 1841, at Torgen. He immigrated to the United States in 1871, settling first in Iowa. On October 26, 1872 he was united in marriage to Miss Sena Groeneveld, and the following year the couple moved to Washington Prairie, and in 1876 entered Dakota territory, settling on a farm near Worthing. Stubsten located on their farm claim two miles west of Lennox in 1878. These early pioneers were both born in Norway. Mr. Stubsten was born September 29, 1841, at Torgen. He immigrated to the United States in 1871, settling first in Iowa. On October 26, 1872 he was united in marriage to Miss Sena Groeneveld, and the following year the couple moved to Washington Prairie, and in 1876 entered Dakota territory, settling on a farm near Worthing. Here they remained for two years, until filing on their homestead in Perry township here. Mrs. Stubsten was born October 2, 1845, at Lillehamer, Norway. She spent her first 26 years in the land of her birth, and in June 1872, came to the United States, first locating in Iowa. Coming to this vicinity when there was very little settlement, Mr. and Mrs. Stubsten endured the early hardships experienced by early settlers, devoting themselves toward the upbuilding of their farm enterprise. Mr. Stubsten used oxen extensively in carrying on his farm routine, and was one of the last to abandon these animals in connection with his farm work. His brother, Haldor H. Stubsten, also homesteaded near his brother's claim in 1878, proving up on his claim and in 1893 moving to Lynn township. In his later years he lived near Canton. Mr. and Mrs. Frederick H. Stubsten made their home on their farm homestead during the remaining years of their life, and Mrs. Stubsten passed away April 19, 1922, attaining the age of 76 years, 6 months and 17 days at the time of her demise. Mr. Stubsten, after residing on the farm for approximately half a century, died June 16, 1927, at the age of 85 years, 8 months, and 17 days. Interment was made in the Lennox cemetery.
