Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the church from 1:30 up until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Ellendale City Cemetery, Ellendale, N.D. Seneca A. "Murphy" Pomplun, son of William F. and Alta (Bristol) Pomplun was born on Aug. 30, 1913, near Forbes, N.D. He grew up and attended rural school north of Forbes. Murphy was united in marriage to Olga Schimke on May 24, 1936, in Ellendale, N.D. The couple made their home and farmed near Forbes. In 1980, Murphy and Olga retired from farming and moved into Ellendale. Olga died in April of 1992. Murphy continued to live in Ellendale, and on Dec. 10, 2004, he became a resident at the Prince of Peace Nursing Home in Ellendale. He was a member of the Presbyterian United Methodist Church in Ellendale. Murphy served several years on the Grand Valley Township Board and also served as an assessor. He loved raising livestock and took much pride in his purebred Angus bulls. Murphy died on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at the MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D. He was 91 years old. He is survived by one daughter, Barbara (Curtis) Peterson, Detroit Lakes, Minn.; one granddaughter, Tami (Art) Ford, Lorette, Manitoba, Canada; two great-grandchildren, Tom and Kelsey; and three great-great-grandchildren. Murphy was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and two brothers, Herman and Bill. Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Oakes is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
