Description	:	SFC Thomas Mitchell Doss, Ret. US Army, passed away at the age of 76 on February 11, 2022 at his home in Columbia, South Carolina. Born September 22, 1945 in Scotland County, Mitchell was the son of the late Thomas Marvin Doss and Mary Moss Doss. He proudly served our nation in the United States Army retiring after 22 years, a Veteran of both the Korean War and Vietnam War. Read More	SFC Thomas Mitchell Doss, Ret. US Army, passed away at the age of 76 on February 11, 2022 at his home in Columbia, South Carolina. Born September 22, 1945 in Scotland County, Mitchell was the son of the late Thomas Marvin Doss and Mary Moss Doss. He proudly served our nation in the United States Army retiring after 22 years, a Veteran of both the Korean War and Vietnam War. For his service and bravery, Mitchell was awarded many medals including the Bronze Star. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, traveling and quiet time watching his favorite western television programs. Mitchell will be truly missed and remembered as a devoted soldier, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by step daughter, Teresa Gail Locklear. Mitchell is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mildred Chavis Doss of their home in Columbia, SC; his children, Thomas B. Doss of Denver, NC, Susan Jara (Tom) of Lincoln, NC, Michael A. Doss of Seneca, SC; step son, Marcus Smiling of Maxton, NC; sisters, Carolyn Smith of Laurinburg, NC, Shelby Miller of Raeford, NC, Nancy Willis and Rosie Bullard (Wilbert) both of Wagram, NC, and brother, Robert Doss (Josephine) of Laurinburg, NC; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren; his nieces, nephews and a host of loving family and friends. Funeral services to honor Mitchell will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel Burial with military honors will follow the service in Hillside Memorial Park. A time of visitation will be prior to service on Tuesday beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Original obituary was published by Richard Boles Funeral Service
