Mr. Fletcher was a son of the late Mrs. and Mrs. Richard Pollard Fletcher, and was the oldest native resident of Harrisonburg. He was born in the "Bulls Eye House," where Yager's toro now stands, on March 22, 1831, his age, therefore, being eighty-six years, eleven months and five days. His wife was Miss Virginia Paul, daughter of the late Isaac Paul, the date of their marriage being March 7, 1867 He was a staunch Republican, and for thirty-five years was clerk of the Federal Court for the Western District of Virginia. During the last five years, he was deputy clerk at Harrisonburg. Mr. Fletcher was a lifelong member and for fifty years had been an elder in the Harrisonburg Presbyterian Church. He was the last surviving member of the board of elders of that church as it was constituted when Rev. Benjamin F. Wilson, D. D., became the minister for the congregation twelve years ago. He was active in religious affairs, and during his entire life was a resident of Harrisonburg, which was founded only fifty-six years before his birth. He enjoyed the confidence and respect of a large circle of friends. During the War Between the States, Mr. Fletcher served in the Confederate Army. He was wounded at the battle of the Wilderness, in which engagement his brother, John Fletcher, was killed, and was with Colonel S. B. Gibbons, when that famous officer lost his life at the battle of McDowell. Surviving Mr. Fletcher are his wife and the following children: I. Paul Fletcher, of Richmond; A. K. Fletcher, Jr., and S. P. Fletcher, Mrs. W. H. Keister and Mrs. J. S. Garrison, of Harrisonburg. He was the last surviving member of his family. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Benjamin Wilson, D. D., were held at 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon from the home on Franklin Street. Interment in Woodbine cemetery The active pallbearers were George B. Sipe, W. L. Dochert, Charles A. Hammer, C. G. Price. George B. Harnsburger and William Dean. Those serving as honorary pallbearers were C. D. Beard, C. H. Chandler, Dr W. T. Lineweaver, Lieutenant L. C. Myers, J. W. _____, H. A. Sprinkel and T.
