Description	:	NORFOLK — Services for Arthur John Schaffer, 97, of Norfolk, will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. Chip Winter will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by the United States Air Force Honor Guard, American Legion Post #16 and VFW Post #1644. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Home for Funerals. Art died at his home on Friday, May 27, 2016. ——— Art was born on May 22, 1919, in Hartington to John Herman Schaffer and Dora Voss Schaffer. He attended school and was confirmed in Carroll. After serving in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945, he married Marjorie Bethea Wagner on March 10, 1947. They were blessed with four children, Anne Winther, Bev Dederman (Don), Gin Klug (Rick), and John Schaffer (Carla), all of Norfolk. He was a long time member of Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. He worked for the Ford dealership for 35 years as a parts man. As a member of the American Legion, he participated for 50 years. Art was also an avid bowler and golfer and achieved a hole in one at the Fair Play Golf Course. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards and playing bingo at the Senior Citizen Center for many years. Truly a blessing to his family for 97 years, he was a kind, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather with a unique sense of humor. He is survived by his four children, 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and his dear friend and companion, Rita Woodard. Art was preceded in death by his wife, parents and three siblings, Herbert Schaffer, Gilbert Schaffer and Irene Dederman.
