Clayborn enlisted in the Union Army, 3rd Missouri State Militia Cavalry, Co. H, as a Corporal in April 1862. He was then transferred to the 7th Missouri State Militia Cavalry, Co. OBITUARY - DECATUR COUNTY JOURNAL - 30 July 1908 Clayborn Moore was born in Grundy County, MO, September 11, 1835 and died at his home in Lineville, IA on 22 July 1908, aged 72 years, 10 months and 11 days. He was married to Mary J. Bright on March 1, 1858. To this union ten children were born, five of whom are now living; Douglas of Coffeyville, KS, Florence, wife of JW Comer, of Ravanna, MO, Mahlon of this county, Tincie, wife of AT Hubbard of this county, and Everett of Lineville. Mr. Moore was an early settler of Morgan Township of this county, where he resided until a few years ago when he sold his farm and moved to Lineville. He was a soldier during the war of the rebellion, being a member of Company L, 7th Missouri Cavalry. He was a man highly respected by his neighbors, having held nearly all the offices in Morgan Township and taking a deep interest in all public affairs. He left to mourn his loss, besides his children, his aged companion who had traveled life's road with him for more than fifty years, and a large number of relatives, friends and neighbors. He had long been a member of the Advent Christian Church and lived a consistent Christian life, and died in the blessed hope of eternal life through Christ. Funeral services were conducted at the house by Rev. Hiatt, interment being in the Evergreen Cemetery at Lineville. Obituary contributed by Findagrave member - 46850502, Gloria.
