Description	:	Dale Rounds, age 85, of Iroquois, and formerly of the Cavour area, died Sunday, September 9, 2007, at the Huron Nursing Home. Dale Jerome Rounds was born on July 19, 1922, to Marion and Mary (Engebos) Rounds at Iroquois, SD. In 1930, Dale's mother passed away and he went to live with and was raised by his aunts and uncle on the Engebos homestead south of Cavour. Read More	Dale Rounds, age 85, of Iroquois, and formerly of the Cavour area, died Sunday, September 9, 2007, at the Huron Nursing Home. Dale Jerome Rounds was born on July 19, 1922, to Marion and Mary (Engebos) Rounds at Iroquois, SD. In 1930, Dale's mother passed away and he went to live with and was raised by his aunts and uncle on the Engebos homestead south of Cavour. He farmed until he entered the U.S. Army Air Force on May 6, 1946. While stationed in Japan following World War II he was a Sergeant and Crew Chief for a Martin A-26 aircraft. He was honorably discharged on October 4, 1947. Dale returned to South Dakota where he farmed and did mechanical work. On November 10, 1951, Dale married Marvilla Poulisse at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cavour. He continued farming and doing mechanical work, and also custom harvesting for a number of years. He and Marvilla lived south of Cavour until 2004 when his health failed. Dale was a member of the Bensley-Rounds American Legion Post #280 of Iroquois, Forrest McMullen VFW Post #1776 of Huron, St. Paul's Catholic Church in Iroquois, and a past member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cavour. Family was a priority for Dale and he especially loved the time that he could spend with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Throughout the years teenagers knew that if they needed to have their cars mechanically worked on they were always welcome at Dale's place and he thoroughly enjoyed helping them work on their cars. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marvilla of Iroquois; 11 children, including 4 sets of twins, Darold (Cindy) of Wessington Springs, Darline Kadinger of Willow Lake, Lois (Kerwin) Kannegieter of Willow Lake, Roger (Vickie) of Iroquois, Ronald (Marilee) of Cavour, John of Iroquois, Joan (Gary) Biever of Iroquois, Teresa (Steve) Patterson of Sioux City, IA, Carolyn (Steve) Eining of Iroquois, Harold (Vicki) of Cavour, and Howard (Janice) of Iroquois; 41 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Marge Blue of Iroquois; 2 brothers, Don (Rosemary) of Pierre, and James (Janice) of Huron; 1 sister-in-law, Lois Rounds of Huron; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Erna; 2 grandsons, Russell Kadinger, and Trent Rounds; 1 son-in-law, Larry Kadinger; 1 sister, Ella Mae Drake; and 5 brothers, Gordon, Al, Wesley, Marion Jr., and Robert. His funeral mass will be Thursday, September 13, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Iroquois with Father Joe Holzhauser officiating. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Iroquois with Military Rites by the Bensley-Rounds American Legion Post #280 of Iroquois. Arrangements by Welter Funeral Home.
