Description	:	Dennis Cheves, 72, passed away Tuesday, August 14, after an extended battle with cancer. He was born January 15, 1946, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Isaac X. and Vivian Jackson Cheves. He grew up in Gainesville, Florida, and was active in Boy Scouts where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. In 1964, he graduated from Gainesville High School. Dennis graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Electrical Engineering with High Honors. He served our country in the Air Force in Viet Nam. He was born January 15, 1946, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Isaac X. and Vivian Jackson Cheves. He grew up in Gainesville, Florida, and was active in Boy Scouts where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. In 1964, he graduated from Gainesville High School. Dennis graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Electrical Engineering with High Honors. He served our country in the Air Force in Viet Nam. In 1971, he married Constance 'Connie' Susan Willis. He made his career working for the City of Gainesville, Gainesville Regional Utilities, until his retirement in 2015. Dennis is predeceased by his parents, and leaves his wife, sons Troy (Ceci) of St. Petersburg, Gregory (Tina) of Jacksonville, and Shannon (Jill) of Gainesville, and grandchildren Logan and Tatiana; Seth, Bradley, and Chloe; Abigail; and his sister Julie Cheves Babcock, of Jacksonville. Dennis was a ham radio operator (K4YC), enjoyed flying radio-controlled airplanes, and fishing. He was a loving husband and father and will be forever missed. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 21, at Milam Funeral Home, 311 South Main Street, at 2:00p.m. with a private burial following. Contributions may be made to Kanapaha Botanical Gardens or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the care of MILAM FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 311 South Main Street, Gainesville, FL.
