Description	:	Edmund D. Jackson, Sr., age 91, of Council Bluffs, passed away January 18, 2009, at his home. Edmund was born October 18, 1917, in Fullerton, Neb., to the late Albert E. and Merle Jackson. He graduated from Fullerton High School in 1935 and served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Edmund married Margaret Catherine Didier on November 29, 1941, in Clarks, Neb. Edmund was born October 18, 1917, in Fullerton, Neb., to the late Albert E. and Merle Jackson. He graduated from Fullerton High School in 1935 and served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Edmund married Margaret Catherine Didier on November 29, 1941, in Clarks, Neb. Together they pioneered in Alaska in the late forties. They moved to Council Bluffs in the early sixties, where Edmund worked at Mercy Hospital as a maintenance supervisor for 12 years. They returned to Alaska from 1974-1983 before returning back to the Bluffs, where Edmund retired as a carpenter-millwright from Local Union #1463 in 1993. Edmund sold garden vegetables on Woodbury Avenue for 35 years and was known as the "Tomato Man." He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church; V.F.W. and Local Union #1463. Edmund was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Catherine Jackson, on April 27, 2008; brother, Norris Jackson; sisters, Norma Hodges and Arlene Rollins. He is survived by daughters, Lana Bowers-Trejo and husband Eugene, of Crescent, Iowa, Rhonda Kellogg and husband John, of Council Bluffs, Karen Guerra and husband John, of Carrollton, Texas; sons, Edmund D. Jackson, Jr. and wife Barbara, of Crescent, Dennis Jackson and wife Cecilia, of Omaha, Neb., Rick Jackson and wife Wendy, of Council Bluffs; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Wake service, Wednesday, 6 p.m., followed by visitation with the family until 8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, 11 a.m., at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Rev. David Fleming will be the celebrant. Interment, Cedar Lawn Cemetery, with military rites tendered by American Legion Post #2. The family will direct memorials.
