| Description | : | He was my grandfather. He served for three years in the infantry during World War II with the First Division, fighting eight campaigns in the European and North African Theatres. Later in life, he drafted comprehensive regulations for student transportation in Nebraska. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, first in the Augustana Synod and then the ELCA following the national merger, and he was always generous with his substantial talents of woodworking and fundraising; much of his craftsmanship can still be seen at St. Andrew's Lutheran in Lincoln, NE.
