| Description | : | Early Sunday morning, June 30th,1929, Robert Carter, a garbage collector found Harry Smeeman's dead body behind Cross Brothers Grocery in Ashland. He had been shot once in the head. The circumstances of why and by whom this tragedy occurred remains a mystery to this day, ninety years later. At the time of his demise Harry served as Sergeant on the small town police department. He was a much esteemed, brave, and valiant officer.
