A memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls with inurnment to follow at Hills of Rest Memorial Park in Sioux Falls. Henry Hall Cherry was born June 5, 1919 in South Leeds, Wisconsin to Henry H Cherry Sr. and Lucia (Gates) Cherry. They later farmed in the Highland, Livingston WI area. Henry attended rural schools and graduated from Livingston High School in 1938. He joined the United States Army Air Corps in January of 1941, and was stationed at the Sioux Falls Army Radio School. On April 20, 1943 he was united in marriage with Ione Aus in Sioux Falls. In July of 1943 he left for England to serve with the 8th Army Air Corps 3rd Aerial Resupply Company. He was honorably discharged in 1945 and returned to Sioux Falls. Henry worked at American Standard Plumbing and Supply, Crane Company and Plainsco. Henry enjoyed fishing, traveling and caring for his home. He was a member of East Side Lutheran Church, Center for Active Generations; where he played “Whist” for many years, and a life member of VFW Post 628. Henry is preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers.
