Description	:	Peabody was the 5th of 10 children (1st son) born of Ezra Kinne (1727-1795) and his wife Sarah Dennison (1733-1792). Peabody's siblings were: Joanna (b. 1749), Marcy (b. 1751), Jemima (b. 1753), Sarah (b. 1755), Sarah 2d (b. 1760), Synthia (b. 1763), Dension (b. 1766), Lucretia (b. 1770), and Ezra (b. 1773). On May 8, 1775, Peabody enlisted as a Private in Captain John Tyler's (the Lieutenant Colonel's) Company, Colonel Samuel Holden Parson's 6th Connecticut Regiment. On May 8, 1775, Peabody enlisted as a Private in Captain John Tyler's (the Lieutenant Colonel's) Company, Colonel Samuel Holden Parson's 6th Connecticut Regiment. This Regiment was recruited from New London, Hartford and later Middlesex Counties. John Tyler and his Company's Lieutenant were from Preston, New London County. Two Company's marched at once for Boston and one other (Captain Mott's) Company was ordered to the Northern Department. The other Companies remained on duty at New London until June 17, when they were ordered by the Governor's Council to the Boston Camps. There the Regiment took post at Roxbury in Brigadier General Joseph Spencer's Brigade, and remained until expiration of their term of service, December 10, 1775. Peabody was discharged from this service on the same day the Regiment's term of service expired. On August 4, 1780, Peabody entered as a Sergeant in Captain John Spafford's Company in Colonel Ebenezer Allen's Regiment of Militia in the service of the state of Vermont in the month of August 1780, from the 4th to the 18th, both days Included, at Pittsford, Rutland County, Vermont. After serving 7 days, Peabody was discharged, August 10th and credited with traveling 25 miles during this service. On October 12, 1780, Peabody marched as a Sergeant in Captain Abraham Ives' Company of Militia in Colonel Ebenezer Allen's Regiment for services to be performed for the State of Vermont. Peabody returned from this service on October 31st after serving 18 days and marching a total of 20 miles. In the 1790 US Census, taken in Vermont in 1791, Peabody Kinny was enumerated in Clarendon, Rutland County, Vermont as a Head of a Family with 1 Free White Male of the age of 16 years and upwards, 2 Free White Males under the age of 16 years, and 6 Free White Females. Early in the 19th century, just prior to the taking of the US Census in 1800, Peabody bought and moved onto a farm in Poultney, Rutland County, Vermont with his family, which then consisted of his wife Elizabeth (1758-1817) and 8 children (4 sons and 4 daughters): Sabra (1781-1849), Theodora (1785-1871), Ezra (1787-1809), Levi (1789-1846), Esther (1791-1871), William (b. 1793), Susanna (1799-1870), and Chester (1801-1817). One daughter, Cynthia (1779-1792) had died and another daughter, the oldest, had married before the family's move to Poultney. In the 1800 US Census of Poultney, Peabody was enumerated as a Head of a Family with 1 Free White Male and 1 Free White Female of 26 thru 44 years of age, 1 Free White Female of 16 thru 25, 2 Free White Males and 1 Free White Female of 10 thru 15, and 2 Free White Males and 2 Free White Females under 10 years of age.
