Major (retired) Robert Clyde Mason, son of Lake Erie Cline and Harry Clyde Mason, and Evelyn Hatfield Mason, daughter of Marvin Hatfield and Arizona Barker Lee, will be buried with military honors 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at Memory Gardens, Low Gap Road, Madison. The Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 of Madison, will conduct the military graveside rites. Rev. Roger Tinnell of the Madison Baptist Church will officiate. Evelyn's parents, Arizona and C.F. Lee, were members of Madison Baptist Church for many years. Robert and Evelyn had two daughters: Patricia (husband Ted Gradt) from Chicago, Ill., and Peggy (husband John Dowling), from Tampa, Fla. Joining them at the graveside rites will be Evelyn's nieces and nephew: Jeannie Hatfield Quinn from Pittsburgh, Pa.; Jim and Nancy Hatfield from Charlotte, N.C.; and Melissa Lee Sebok from Alexandria, Va., as well as cousins: Larry and Sandra Barker from Madison; Buddy and Barbara Woodrum from Ripley; and Ronnie Clendenen and Jeannie Lanyi from Racine. Evelyn's brother was A.J. Hatfield and her sister, Virginia Lee Sebok. Robert grew up in Scarboro. Childhood friends, W.D. Sharp from Marlington and Margaret Errington Callaghan from Summerville, hope to attend. His nephew, Butch and Joan Johnson from Riva, Maryland and sister, Doris Jean Shaver, her daughter and grandchildren from Munroe, Ohio will be present. Evelyn's dear childhood friends — Lucy Lewis from Charleston, and Indra Clendenen from Racine, also plan to be present. The family is especially pleased that our good friends, Ronnie and Shirley Walker from Danville, will be with them as well. Lunch will follow at the Park Avenue Diner in Danville. Through the assistance of Director Susan Mischler, donations in memory of Robert and Evelyn Mason have been made to the Boone-Madison Public Library Children's Reading Fund.
