| Description | : | Sergt. 3 U.S.V. Cav. Co. A Sp. Am. War. This regiment was known as Grigsby's Cowboys and Grigsby Rough Riders. He was listed as a stockman from Deadwood at the time of his enlistment. On June 29, 1903, South Dakota Congressman Eben W. Martin reccomended that William A. Rankin be named the first Superindent of Wind Cave National Park. The Secretary of Interior concurred and Rankin assumed the job on August 1, 1903.
