Read More	Bio from interviews with Bill/relatives/friends. William was born Friday, November 13, 1925 at his family's residence on Englewood Drive in Lynchburg. He was the youngest of the four children of Aubrey Clarence Dooley and Goldie Belle Turner Dooley. Bill had a short formal education while working part time at Adams & Cobbs' "Stay Kleen" grocery store then got a job at Price & Clements Machine Shop as a young man. Bill proudly served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. Staff Sergent Dooley was a member of the 367th Squadron, 306th Bombardment Group and was an Arial (Ball Turrent) Gunner in B-17 aircraft. Service photos show him posing with his crew companions in front of "Webers Wagon" in 1944. Records indicate that this particular aircraft was one of the few B-17's that returned to the US after the war, however Bill was not on that flight. Upon his return from military activity he resumed his job with Price and Clements. Shortly after returning to the states he met his wife to be, married her, and started a family. After working for many years at P&C he took a job at B&W, Mt Athos as a tool designer Below are excerpts from his obit... In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Lee Dooley, two brothers: Aubrey Mark Dooley, and Paul Felix Dooley, a sister, Mary Dooley Tuck, a sister in–law, Doris Harlowe Dooley, and a brother–in–law, Aubrey Tuck. (All of these family members have records at Find A Grave) He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and camping. He was an honest, humble man with a good sense of humor. Bill was a HAM operator, his call letters were W4FLU (Flu Bug).
