Description	:	Sharon K. Woods, 60, died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Lakepoint Care Center in El Dorado. Celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Private burial will be at a later date. Cremation will precede the service. Sharon was born Jan. 3, 1951 in Eureka, the daughter of Clinton and Catherine (Simmons) Barrier. She attended school at Eureka, graduating from there. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of El Dorado and a member of the Rainbows. She loved to shop, send cards to people... Read More	Sharon K. Woods, 60, died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Lakepoint Care Center in El Dorado. Celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Private burial will be at a later date. Cremation will precede the service. Sharon was born Jan. 3, 1951 in Eureka, the daughter of Clinton and Catherine (Simmons) Barrier. She attended school at Eureka, graduating from there. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of El Dorado and a member of the Rainbows. She loved to shop, send cards to people and was an avid reader. Sharon loved her grandchildren and being with them. Survivors include: son, Gregory Woods of Wichita; daughter, Rebecca Flurry of El Dorado; brothers, Carl and wife Frances Barrier and Glenn and wife Sondra Barrier, all of El Dorado; sister, Evelyn Walford of El Dorado; three grandchildren, Noah Woods, Seth Flurry and Preston Flurry; and many friends. Preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harold and Elwin Barrier. A memorial has been established to help the family with funeral expenses. MEMORIES POSTED ON-LINE: Sharon was a classmate of mine at Random Grade School, Mulberry Jr. High and Eureka Senior High. I recall going home with her after school and staying all night when we were young. Sharon's parents owned a business in Eureka for many years. They sold wallpaper and I can still remember the beautiful wallpaper rolls and how the smell would greet you when you walked in the door. Large tables were covered with ceramic knickknacs like you see these days on eBay. Catherine, Sharon's mother, wallpapered for my family when we lived on Walnut St. in Eureka during the 50's and 60's. I have too many fun memories of Sharon to list here, but I will always remember Sharon and her parents with fondness. Although I am very sad that Sharon is no longer with us here on Earth, it helps me to know that she is no longer suffering. Her friendship has very much enriched my life. I love you, Sharon. Rosanne Carter - June 08 at 03:37 PM I have a fun memory of Sharon. She was my first "real date" and I was probably her first "real date" to a Rainbow Girls dance early in our 7th grade school year. She wore a beautiful blue and white dress that she bought especially for that dance, and her pretty face and smile were the perfect jewelry for it. She was adorable! We had a great time even though neither one of us knew how to dance without tripping someone. I have no doubt that our classmates have many fond memories of her. In our hearts, she will always be a part of who we are. We will miss you Sharon. We attended Random Grade School and spent many nights together. We would go with Sharon's parents out in the country somewhere on Saturday nights when friends and family would get together and play music. Sharon and I were the "best dancers" there - we just knew it! One lady always brought the best chicken salad sandwiches! Sharon and I both were the "babies" of our families and we cherished that fact! After grade school sometimes we would walk to the paint store and play there until her parents closed for the night. I ate my very first hominy at Sharon's house. Her Mom told me I probably wouldn't like it, but I still love it to this day and so do all my kids! Sharon is no longer suffereing! She's with God now! Even though I was a couple of years older and Sue, my younger sister was a couple of years younger, we were all three her friend. That's a pretty good friend! Belva Arnold - June 07 at 11:12 PM Hi dear cousin, yes- Sharon was a most delightful person, I did not meet her till we started high school and I always appreciated her thoughtful and kind nature. My favorite memories involve her loads of blonde hair, teasing it and hair spray. One nite at her house, we were going somewhere (she dating her husband to be) (I had a date for the show in El Dorado). We were in her bathroom sharing the mirror, her hair was especially "pouffy" that nite, we nearly choked each other with hair spray. 1967, I think. We laughed and ran out of the bathroom.
