Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 9th at the First Baptist Church1616 W. 39th St, Kearney, NE with the Pastor Stan Murdoch officiating. Interment will follow at the Armada Cemetery in Miller, NE. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Kay was born March 17, 1943 in Broken Bow, Nebraska, the daughter of Lloyd A. and June B. (Coover) Krantz. She grew up in Westerville, NE where she attended grade school. She graduated from Ansley High School in 1961. Following her graduation, she attended Beauty School at the Grand Island school of Beauty where she received a degree in cosmetology. Later, Kay enjoyed teaching cosmetology in Kearney, NE. On June 19, 1964, Kay was united in marriage to Garey G. Arnold in Westerville, NE. Garey and Kay recently celebrated 51 years of marriage. Their life together was spent in communities located in central Nebraska including Ansley, Mason City, Sumner, and most recently Kearney. For nearly all of these years, Kay owned, operated and managed her business, a hair salon. In this endeavor, many people relied on Kay and soon her customers became some of her best friends. Kay retired in 2005. Her retirement years were spent enjoying friends, supporting various church activities, supporting her family in every activity, including camping, and traveling to the Colorado Mountains. Her sewing skills and fabulous chocolate cake will not be forgotten. When loved ones think of Kay, one of the things that first comes to mind is her enjoyment of watching and caring for birds. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Garey Arnold of Kearney; sons, Monte (Julie) Arnold of Miller, NE and Tony Arnold of Kearney, NE; grandchildren, Paige and Casey of Lexington and Emily of Miller; sister, Kathy (Jim) Varney of Broken Bow; brothers, Mike (Dee) Krantz of Ansley, NE and Pat (Kathrine) Krantz of Rapid City, SD; sisters-in-law, Twila (Rodger) Nichols of Sumner and Vicki (Ed) Oxford of Broken Bow; many nieces and nephews and special friends Al and Sudie Cole. Kay was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Davy Krantz
