Read More	Sharon Hudson Brennan, 75, a lifelong resident of Fredericksburg, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Mary Washington Hospital after a battle with colorectal cancer. Sharon, born on October 27, 1943, was the youngest child of Raymond and Nellie Hudson. She married her husband of 54 years, J. Allen Brennan, on April, 4 1964. After graduating from James Monroe High School in 1961, Sharon became an LPN at Mary Washington Hospital; after three years as an LPN, she stepped back to raise a family. When her daughters started school, Sharon became a preschool teacher at Fredericksburg Baptist Church, where she was affectionately known as “Miss Sharon” by hundreds of children for more than thirty years. During her time as a teacher, she also served as the church hostess at Fredericksburg Baptist Church for 35 years, and upon her retirement the church kitchen was named in her honor. For more than 45 years, she taught Sunday School at Fredericksburg Baptist Church. In addition to her career, Sharon volunteered much of her time to the Ladies Auxiliary to the Fredericksburg Fire Department, where she served as President and at the present time was serving as treasurer. She was a member of the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Company where she served as secretary. Sharon was also a member of the Auxiliary to the Virginia State Firefighter’s Association, having served as President and at the time of her death, serving as an Executive Committee member. She was also a member of Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association. Through her involvement with fire service, she and Allen were able to travel across the country which included one of her favorite trips to Sitka, Alaska. Sharon was also a member of the Rappahannock Railroad Museum, sharing a love of trains with her husband and grandson. She was a dedicated woman who volunteered much of her time to helping others, but also to her family. Survivors include her husband, J. Allen Brennan; her daughter, Elizabeth Garnett (Stephen); grandchildren, Joseph Allen and Sarah Elizabeth; her sister, Audrey Haynes; sister-in-law Leathie Hudson; five nephews and one niece; and numerous great-nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Raymond Hudson; daughter Karen Marie Brennan; brother-in-law, Medford Haynes; and a nephew. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 18 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 19 at Fredericksburg Baptist Church, 1019 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Fredericksburg Baptist Church, her lifelong church.
