Description	:	Sharon Mercer Pierce, 65, the widow of William Leroy Pierce, departed this life Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Pierce was born the daughter of Dueward “Stucky” Belmont Mercer and Neelie Elizabeth Bone Mercer on February 8, 1955, in Georgetown. She enjoyed cooking on the river, camping, fishing, and traveling. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and eating “poppops” with Kaiden. She leaves behind two children, Lonnie “Dean” Mercer and Saron “Sara” Elaine Bishop; a stepson, William Leroy “Lee” Pierce Jr.; a stepdaughter, Teresa Lyles; four grandchildren, Hunter Donavon Bishop, Jessica Danielle Bishop, Payton Dean Mercer, and Dallas Cameron; and two great-grandchildren, Kaiden Daniel Bishop and Sawyer Dean Jordan. She also leaves behind: two brothers, William “Tumpy” Mercer (Mildred) and Deuward “Buddy” Mercer (Faye); three sisters, Patricia “Pat” Ann Howard (Tommy), Wanda Sue Mercer, and Janette Elizabeth Miller (Odell); a special niece, Lisa Todd (David); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Roger Dale Mercer and Joe Mercer; two sisters, Betty Lou Davis and Helen Belcher A Graveside Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2021, in Sampit United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by McKenzie Funeral Home. The Mercer and Pierce families will greet family and friends prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the Cemetery. Due to Covid-19, the family asks that everyone please practice social distancing and facemasks are required. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to McKenzie Funeral Home online at mckenziechapels.com. McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the Mercer and Pierce families.
