Description	:	Shelby Jean AKA "Red" was born in Oconee County, SC. She and her family lived throughout the Tri-County Area before finally settling in Seneca, SC permanently. She graduated from Seneca High School in 1958. She attended trade school to obtain a secretarial services certification. Upon completion, she worked at the South Carolina Credit Union in downtown Seneca ,until she was hired as the church secretary at Hopewell Baptist Church, Seneca, SC. Read More	Shelby Jean AKA "Red" was born in Oconee County, SC. She and her family lived throughout the Tri-County Area before finally settling in Seneca, SC permanently. She graduated from Seneca High School in 1958. She attended trade school to obtain a secretarial services certification. Upon completion, she worked at the South Carolina Credit Union in downtown Seneca ,until she was hired as the church secretary at Hopewell Baptist Church, Seneca, SC. During her tenure as church secretary, she was also the church pianist. She met and married her future husband on Dec 24, 1963. They were blessed with 2 daughters. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was a truly gifted individual musically like most of her family. Performing as a family, She and Her Sister Evelyn provided the vocals while Her Father Henry and Oldest Brother James accompanied them instrumentally. As a group, they performed extensively at local churches and events throughout the upstate and surrounding regions. She was a very accomplished piano and guitar player as well. She possessed the rare talent of being able to play any tune by ear. Her most satisfying role was that of a full time mom for several years before re-entering the workforce as a nurses aide and ultimately as the receptionist at the Oconee Geriatric Center, Seneca SC. She worked there until shortly before her short battle with cancer and subsequent passing in Nov, 1993. She along with her family were blessed with the birth of her first grandchild on Dec 25 ,1991. A beautiful baby girl, whom she adored with all her being. She would have equally been over the moon with the birth of her 2 future grandsons.
