Description	:	"Sheri L. Gocken, 53 years, of North Bend,NE passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at her home. She was born to F. Harold and Leona (Karpisek) Soukup on November 12, 1962 in Schuyler, NE. Sheri grew up in Fremont, NE and graduated from Fremont High School in 1981. On November 16, 1981, she married George Gocken in Fremont. The couple moved to Grand Island, then George joined the U.S. Navy. While George was in training, Sheri moved back to Fremont. Sheri grew up in Fremont, NE and graduated from Fremont High School in 1981. On November 16, 1981, she married George Gocken in Fremont. The couple moved to Grand Island, then George joined the U.S. Navy. While George was in training, Sheri moved back to Fremont. After training, George and Sheri traveled to Italy, Tennessee, Iceland, Florida, and London where George was stationed. Sheri worked in retail sales for the Navy Exchange, until George’s retirement in 2001, where they resided in Florida. Sheri managed the furniture department at Big Lots. In 2006, they moved to Nebraska to be close to family. Sheri worked for Hampl Transportation in Morse Bluff. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in North Bend. She is survived by her husband, George; son, George Paul of North Bend; daughter, Amanda Lee (Trevor) Gocken of Jacksonville, FL; mother, Leona Soukup of North Bend; brothers, Greg (Diane) Soukup of Hooper, NE, Bruce (Kathy) Soukup of Strang, NE, Kenneth (Heidi) Soukup of Orlando, FL; sisters, Debbie (Cory) Peden of Portland, OR, Teri (Jim) McCabe of Manson, IA; and 1 granddaughter, Hana Joyce. She was preceded in death by her father. Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the United Presbyterian Church in North Bend. The Rev. Michael Hill will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend and will continue 1 hour prior to the service at church. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial yet to be established." Moser Memorial Chapel, North Bend, Nebraska.
