A native of Gaffney, William Henry Wallace (1880–1966) and Maggie Lee Bolin Wallace (1886–1952); husband of Marion Dean Potter Wallace (1922–2016) for 65 years; first married to the late Bessie Mae Shockley Wallace (1928-1967). A member of Temple Baptist Church, served as sheriff of Cherokee County from 1982 until 1990, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the South Carolina Sheriff's Association. His greatest accomplishments were his love for his God, his family, his country... Read More	Sheriff Joe Edgar Wallace, 84, of Gaffney, SC, died Sunday, May 1, 2005, at his home. A native of Gaffney, William Henry Wallace (1880–1966) and Maggie Lee Bolin Wallace (1886–1952); husband of Marion Dean Potter Wallace (1922–2016) for 65 years; first married to the late Bessie Mae Shockley Wallace (1928-1967). A member of Temple Baptist Church, served as sheriff of Cherokee County from 1982 until 1990, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the South Carolina Sheriff's Association. His greatest accomplishments were his love for his God, his family, his country and his county. His exemplary life was a testament to his beliefs. Other survivors include his sons, William Steve Wallace (1941–2011) and daughter-in-law, Brenda, Joe Harrill Wallace (Verdi), and Ronnie Eugene Wallace (Doris); brother, J.B. Wallace; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Also preceded in death by daughters, Brenda Dean Wallace (1950-1950), Barbara Jean Wallace (1950-1950), and Joan Gail Wallace; one sister, Mildred Mae Wallace Horlacher Hughey; and eight brothers, Jesse McCall Wallace (1907–1996), Everette Carson Wallace (1910–1999), William Bub Wallace (1912–1995), David Daniel Wallace (1915–1984), J B Wallace (1925–2006), H K Wallace (1927–1933), and Donald Wallace (1932–1937). Services were held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel with burial in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers were all law enforcement personnel, active and retired. Memorials made to Interim Hospice, Spartanburg, SC, or to Meals on Wheels, Gaffney, SC.
