Description	:	Sherman Flansburg, son of Gerrit and Sarah M. Flansburg, was born in Albany County, New York, October 2, 1874. Lured by the prosperity of other members of the family who had come to Iowa the family came west to Clarence, Cedar county, in 1887. In this community he grew to manhood. Flansburg, was born in Albany County, New York, October 2, 1874. Lured by the prosperity of other members of the family who had come to Iowa the family came west to Clarence, Cedar county, in 1887. In this community he grew to manhood. Some thirty-five years ago he bought a farm in Red Oak Twp., southwest of Stanwood, where he prospered and gained competence of material wealth. He was a hard worker enjoying being busy right up to the last. He was a genial soul who closely observed people and events. He was the soul of integrity doing justly by all with whom he dealt. About three years ago he purchased a home in Stanwood where he lived thro the summer season spending the winters in California. Mr Flansburg never married. He took a great interest in the welfare of the children of his brother Wilbur. He was a member of Mt. Hope Lodge A.F.A.M. Death came to him almost without warning. He had complained of a constant headache on Sunday the warning of a cerebral hemorrhage which came on him with such force that early Monday morning, Sept. 27th, he passed from this life lacking but a week of reaching the age of 74 years. He is survived by one brother, Wilbur of Stanwood, and the following nieces and nephews: Caro and Dale Flansburg of Tiffin, Iowa, Floy Stoneking of Monticello, Vivian Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Max Escher of Minneapolis, Minn., and Earl Escher of San Francisco, Calif. Funeral services were held from the Sheets Funeral Home at Tipton on the afternoon of Sept. 29th, conducted by Gordon Smith. He was laid to rest in the family lot in the Clarence Cemetery. Pallbearers were Morton and Max Coppess, W. F. Thomson, H. E. Dewell, Fred Ruther, Kenneth Morehead.
