Description	:	Sherrill Whit ' Whitley REIDSVILLE - Sherrill Lee "Whit" Whitley, 66, of Reidsville, passed quietly at his home Friday (Sept. 9, 2005) with his family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer. His earthly journey complete, he has gone to rest with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A native of Albemarle, Sherrill was born June 16, 1939, to the late Leroy and Ruby Whitley. Read More	Sherrill Whit ' Whitley REIDSVILLE - Sherrill Lee "Whit" Whitley, 66, of Reidsville, passed quietly at his home Friday (Sept. 9, 2005) with his family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer. His earthly journey complete, he has gone to rest with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A native of Albemarle, Sherrill was born June 16, 1939, to the late Leroy and Ruby Whitley. He came to call Reidsville home, where he worked and raised his children. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from Miller Brewing Company after 22 years. He was also co-owner and operator of Sanitary Cafe for several years. Mr. Whitley was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lauren Whitley. Survivors include his loving and devoted Wife, Carol; Children: Whit and Cindy Whitley Tammy and Joey Howell Tony and Tammy Whitley, all of Reidsville; Mother of his children: Tamara Lynette Burleson Whitley Clemons Grandchildren Brittney and Hannah Whitley Jennifer and Kimberly Howell Logan and Matthew Whitley; Sister: Carolyn Bullock of Albemarle; Brother: Jerry Whitley and wife Cindy of Greensboro; and his most special and precious aunt, Deaner Corl of Rockwell. Service : 2 p.m Sunday at Bible Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Overlook Cemetery, Eden. Visitation : 7-9 tonight at Wilkerson Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence at 502 Parkland Road. Memorials : Hospice of Rockingham County P.O. Box 281 Wentworth , NC 27375 or Bible Baptist Church 1213 Boyd Road Reidsville, NC 27320 Sherrill spent his life providing for and making his family happy. His spirit and personality have blessed all who knew him, and in that, making all our lives richer. Special thanks goes to Hospice caregiver Heather Lasley for her kindness and help during his final days.
