Description	:	Sherwood W Armbrecht, 59, of rural Clemons, died Saturday morning, August 26, at his home. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the St John Lutheran Church north of State Center with Pastor Marvin Flanscha officiating. Burial rites preceded the service at St John Church Cemetery. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the St John Lutheran Church north of State Center with Pastor Marvin Flanscha officiating. Burial rites preceded the service at St John Church Cemetery. Born May 15, 1936, in Marshall county, he was the son of William and Elsie Eggers Armbrecht. He received his education in the St John Parochial School and then graduated from the Clemons High School in 1953. From March of 1957 until his honorable discharge in March of 1959 he served in the United States Army. On July 30, 1961 he was united in marriage to Edith Schmidt at St Paul Lutheran Church in Artesian. They helped farm near Nevada for a half year before moving to his wife's family farm near Traer for the next four years. In 1966 they moved to a farm near Dunkerton where they lived and raised their family until returning to Clemons family farm where Sherwood had been raised. Mr Armbrecht was an active member of St John Lutheran Church and the Lutherans for Life. He served as treasurer of the Iowa Lutherans for Life, as well as serving on the Clemons Lutheran School Board and the Marshall County REC Board of Directors. Surviving him are his loving wife of 34 years, Edith who resides at the family farm, two daughters, Ruth (Mrs Dave) Olson of Wadena, Minnesota and Rhoda (Mrs Tim) David of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; three sons, Ted Armbrecht and his wife Deanna and their daughter Danielle of Grundy Center, Iowa; Andy Armbrecht and his wife Donna of Williamsburg, Iowa and Mark Armbrecht of Ankney. Also surviving are four brothers: Hugo Armbrecht of Colo, Iowa; Joseph Armbrecht of Clemons, Iowa; Richard Armbrecht of Fredericksburg, Iowa and Kenneth Armbrecht of State Center; as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, and infant daughter, Lois Marie Armbrecht, a sister, Pauline Armbrecht, and a brother, Louie Armbrecht. August 31, 1995 State Center Enterprise.
