Description	:	Shirlee A. Rohrs, 92 of Marshalltown, Iowa, died on November 5, 2021, at Southridge Care Facility under the care of hospice. Shirlee was born on April 19, 1929, the daughter of John and Leila (Rockwell) Doan in Ponca, Nebraska. Shirlee joined four older brothers in the family and they were later joined by one more brother. Rohrs, 92 of Marshalltown, Iowa, died on November 5, 2021, at Southridge Care Facility under the care of hospice. Shirlee was born on April 19, 1929, the daughter of John and Leila (Rockwell) Doan in Ponca, Nebraska. Shirlee joined four older brothers in the family and they were later joined by one more brother. Their parents raised them during the great depression with hard working values. During WWII Shirlee moved to California where her older brothers were, with the intention of joining the military to become a nurse. She decided to return to the Midwest and took nursing training in Marshalltown. She worked at Mercy Hospital as a scrub nurse. Later she joined the office of Dr. W.W. Southwick where she worked until she retired. Even after retirement, Shirlee worked at some of the nursing homes in Marshalltown. During her time in nurses training, Shirlee met Dale Rohrs. They were married on June 10, 1950, at the Baptist Church. They were the parents of Steven and Robert. They enjoyed many happy times camping and had great stories to tell of their adventures. Shirlee was a Hawkeye fan and liked to watch their football and basketball games. She also kept up with the Cornhusker teams of Nebraska, her home state. Shirlee is survived by her son, Steve (Donna) of Reeds Spring, Missouri; her younger brother Dick (Bette) Doan Ojai, California; sister-in-law Martha Doan Laguna Woods, California; and several nieces and nephews. In death Shirlee joins her husband F. Dale Rohrs; son Robert; her parents; brothers Lloyd, Jack, Kenneth, and Donald "Pete." Source: Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown.
