Description	:	Shirley Ann Gehlsen, age 74, died on Monday, June 25, 2012 at her home in Sioux Falls. Shirley Ann Hammer was born on October 2, 1937 in Sioux Falls, SD to Edgar and Avis (Eneboe) Hammer. She was raised on a farm south of Canton, SD. Read More	Shirley Ann Gehlsen, age 74, died on Monday, June 25, 2012 at her home in Sioux Falls. Shirley Ann Hammer was born on October 2, 1937 in Sioux Falls, SD to Edgar and Avis (Eneboe) Hammer. She was raised on a farm south of Canton, SD. She received her education thru the eighth grade at Highland Center one room school. She then graduated from Canton High School in 1956. In 1959 Shirley was united in marriage with EmRoy M. Gehlsen. The couple were blessed with one son, Doug. Shirley and EmRoy lived all over the United States as well as Germany while EmRoy served in the United States Army. She then made her home in Sioux Falls in 1978. Shirley began working at Austad's Golf in Sioux Falls in 1978 and worked there until beginning her career at Citibank in Fraud Securities in 1999; a job she loved and was working until the time of her death. Shirley was a hard worker and loved the people she worked with. She loved hosting family and friends; especially at the holidays, and was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed keeping up to date on current events. But most of all loved spending time and taking trips with her family. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, great-aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed. Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Doug Gehlsen and his fiancé Karen Monroe, Middleburg, VA; sister, Beverly Fluit and her husband, Bert, Inwood, IA; two nephews, William E. Fluit and his wife, Laurie, Sioux Falls, SD and Mike Fluit and his wife, Connie, Inwood, IA; two nieces, Tammy Fluit, Sioux Falls, SD and Trish (Alan) Weber, Columbia, MO; six great nieces and great nephews, Heather Fluit, Washington, D.C., Andrew Weber, Long Island, NY, Alex Weber, Cleveland, MO, Catharine Weber, Columbia, MO, Kevin Fluit, Brookings, SD and Shawn Fluit, Inwood, IA, She is preceded in death by her parents.
