Shirley was born April 3, 1932 in Worthington, IA, the daughter of Arthur and Hilda (Wilhelm) Hildebrand. She graduated in 1951 from Coggon High School. She married July 11, 1951 to Raymond G. Oltmann in Prairieburg. Raymond served with the Army during the Korean conflict. Shirley and Raymond began their lifelong passion of farming. She was a member of St Stephen's Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society and the Church Guild. Shirley was a chairwoman of Farm Bureau Women's Committee for several years and a hospice volunteer In 1995 she was elected as the Mother of the Year by Iowa Mothers Association. Surviving are her daughters Marsha (Gary) Stril of Tacoma, WA, Beverly (Duane) Bolton of Central City, Judith (Bob) Hurley of San Antonio, TX and Virginia (Kyle) Ulferts of Anamosa, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sister Rosemary Coleman of Cedar Rapids, three sisters-in-laws, Irma (Mark) Leonard of Monticello, Eleanor (Lloyd) Mueller of Dubuque, and Myra Oltmann of Marion, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond, one granddaughter, Anastasia, three brothers-in-law, Ronald Coleman, Marving (Mabel) Oltmann and Eugene Oltmann and a sister-in-law, Audrey (Walter) Reiter. Memorials may be directed to St Stephen's Catholic Church in Shirley's memory.
