Description	:	The following bio was furnished by Shirley's husband Kenneth for our 50th High School reunion that we had in May 2011. Shirley Ann McMillian was born August 14, 1943 in Bunceton to Stanley and Verni McMillian. She attended California schools graduating in 1961. She married Kenneth Fischer on October 28, 1961. To them were born: Mary Christine (Chrissy) 8-20-62, Patrick Wayne 3-21-64 and David William 8-16-66. There are 8 grandchildren - 3 of whom Shirley did not live to see. Shirley stayed at home until the youngest started school. We owned and operated a restaurant... Shirley Ann McMillian was born August 14, 1943 in Bunceton to Stanley and Verni McMillian. She attended California schools graduating in 1961. She married Kenneth Fischer on October 28, 1961. To them were born: Mary Christine (Chrissy) 8-20-62, Patrick Wayne 3-21-64 and David William 8-16-66. There are 8 grandchildren - 3 of whom Shirley did not live to see. Shirley stayed at home until the youngest started school. We owned and operated a restaurant for 2 1/2 years. She attended Cosmetology school but did not pursue that career. Shirley worked at various jobs, then in 1983 we bought the uptown cleaners, which thanks to her hard work and personality was successful. We sold the cleaners in 1985 and she stayed on with the new owners for a while. She loved to go and do things, and we took several trips in and out of state the last being to Virginia and Washington D. C. She told of the time when she and Betty Burger were late for school. They were sent to the Principal's office and asked why they were late. She said they got behind a slow dog. When we returned from Virginia, we learned she had breast cancer and true to form she was brave and fought it like a hero. She never complained, though I know she suffered much. She went home on November 24, 1997, and I know the angels met her. She was a friend to many and loved by all who knew her. She was Pure Gold!
