Description	:	Shirley Ann Parrish was born on February 8, 1936 in Tecumseh, NE, to Charles and Edus (Hickey) Parrish. She graduated from Elk Creek School, Elk Creek, NE in 1954. She later moved to Beatrice, NE where she met Allen Straub. They were married on October 9, 1959 in Pawnee City. They lived in Beatrice until 1965 when they moved to Arvada, CO. In 1978 the family moved back to Beatrice, NE where she worked at Carstens Gardens as the cook, then later at Beatrice State Developmental Center, from where she retired due to a disability. They loved camping and fishing,... Read More	Shirley Ann Parrish was born on February 8, 1936 in Tecumseh, NE, to Charles and Edus (Hickey) Parrish. She graduated from Elk Creek School, Elk Creek, NE in 1954. She later moved to Beatrice, NE where she met Allen Straub. They were married on October 9, 1959 in Pawnee City. They lived in Beatrice until 1965 when they moved to Arvada, CO. In 1978 the family moved back to Beatrice, NE where she worked at Carstens Gardens as the cook, then later at Beatrice State Developmental Center, from where she retired due to a disability. They loved camping and fishing, and spending time outdoors. She was an excellent cook; her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving where she could cook a big meal for her family. She loved her husband, children and grandchildren, crossword puzzles, old game shows and TV programs. She was a very sweet, patient woman that everyone loved. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Allen, on March 10, 2010; her parents, parents-in-law Orville and Donna Straub, her brother Keith Parrish, infant brother Darryl Parrish; sisters Cecile Burns and Carol Hespen(Bud), brothers in law Bob McWain and Bob Burns, sister in law Glenda (Carl) Vogler, granddaughter Stephanie. Survivors include her sons Tim and Rick of Branson, MO, daughter Jana (Stephen) of Branson, MO. Grandkids Michael (Sara) of Lincoln, NE, Nicole (Andrew) of Beatrice, NE, Emily and Madison of Branson, MO. Great granddaughters Tayvah and Alyssa, and Great grandsons Elijah and Isaac. Brothers Kenny Parrish, Jerry (Beth) Parrish, Charles "Zeb" (Pat) Parrish, sister Betty McWain, numerous neices, nephews and cousins.
