Description	:	Shirley (Mrs. Harold) Boning, 80, of Creston, Nebraska, died Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Countryside Home in Madison, Nebraska. The funeral service will be Thursday, August 4, 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Creston, with Rev. Jim Ernst officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Creston. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Thursday from 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M. Memorials may be directed to the family. Shirley was born April 5, 1936, on the family farm in Stanton County, Nebraska, to Elmer and Mildred (Goering) Correll. Shirley graduated from Creston High School in 1954, and then from Norfolk Junior College with a degree in Clerical Administration. On August 18, 1957, Shirley was united in marriage to Harold Boning in Creston. They farmed for many years north of Creston. Shirley also worked as the church secretary at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for many years and later worked at Husker Steel. She was very active in the church and served on several committees. Shirley enjoyed doing scrap books, reading, gardening, traveling, and loved to collect angels. She was a member of the Creston Legion Auxiliary, Platte County Extension Club, and Harold’s Square Dancers.
