Description	:	Please Note: Shirley’s obituary, which I have transcribed below, stated that she was survived by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Crane of Ottumwa. Shirley’s grandmother, Eva J. (Cudworth) Crane, is buried in Shaul Cemetery. As noted in her memorial, she married Jesse Crane on December 21, 1898, in Jefferson County, Iowa. I have not been able to find out what happened to Jesse, and I do not know why Shirley’s obituary is worded the way it is. Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” March 31, 1933: CRANE INFANT. Shirley Crane, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Crane, 930 South Weller street, 930 S. Weller street, died at the home at 9:30 a.m. today. She is survived by her parents; four sisters, June, Marjorie, Barbara and Phyllis; one brother, Edward and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Crane of Ottumwa. Private funeral services were held at the grave in the Shaul cemetery at 3:30 p.m. today. The Rev. H.S. Wilkinson, D.D., pastor of the Willard Street Methodist Episcopal church conducted the service.
