Wiese, 60 June 18, 1931 — January 26, 1992 PORTSMOUTH – Shirley Fay Wiese, daughter of Herman and Berdie Hammond Waddell was born on a farm in Harrison County near Woodbine, June 18, 1931. She attended school in Persia, graduating from high school with in 1949. She moved to Co. Bluffs, where she was employed at the State Savings Bank. Sept. 1, 1953, she married Francis Wiese at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Co. Bluffs. Two children were born to this union. After their marriage, they made their home on a farm in Shelby county, south of Portsmouth. This has continued to be their home since that time. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Portsmouth, and has been a member there for many years. She died Jan. 26, 1992, at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Co. Bluffs, as a result of a traffic accident at age 60 years, 7 months and 8 days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Lee; two brothers, Ray and Glen; two half brothers, Ted and Wesley; and a half sister, Eva. Surviving is her husband Francis of Portsmouth; her daughter, Uzene (Wayne) Fink of Harlan; and her son, Merlyn Wiese of Des Moines; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Waddell of Omaha, NE.; one sister, Wilma (Jake) Pitzer of Apple Valley, CA.; a half brother, Earl Waddell of Harlan; and a half sister, Ollie Hillemeyer of San Jacinto, CA.; nieces, nephews and other relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial was concelebrated Jan. 29, 1992, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Portsmouth with Rev. Mike McLaughlin, celebrant. Concelebrating was Msgr. Michael Schwarte, assisted by Deacon Pat Davitt. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery with Mel Book, George Wear, Alden Stamp, Robert Stuhr, Marlin Gubbels, and Quentin Hoffman, casketbearers. Pauley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. -------------------------
