Born in Highland Park, Mich., she was a daughter of Kathleen "Kathy" Edwards Hill and the late Finas Hill. She was a 1976 Haysi High School graduate, a LPN nurse working in Grundy and at Dr. Molina's office in Haysi, a life-time member of the Girl Scouts and a member of GWRRA. Shirley Faye Hogston, age 55, of Wagon Trail Road, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn. Born in Highland Park, Mich., she was a daughter of Kathleen "Kathy" Edwards Hill and the late Finas Hill. She was a 1976 Haysi High School graduate, a LPN nurse working in Grundy and at Dr. Molina's office in Haysi, a life-time member of the Girl Scouts and a member of GWRRA. Shirley was baptized Easter Sunday in 1973 and was a member of Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband, Karl; a daughter, Amanda Dawn and her husband, Bobby Perrigan Jr., and their children, Alexandria, Julianna, IsaBella and Gwendolyn of Haysi; and a son, Daniel Jason and his wife, Chika Hogston, and their children, Hinata and Asahi, stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri; and her mother and father-in-law, Onis and Gladys Hogston of Grundy, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Haysi Funeral Home with Darrell Milgrim and Phillip Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Family Cemetery, Haysi. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Perrigan, Onis Hogston, Randall Hogston and Hamilton Edwards. Friends can call after 6 p.m. on Sunday and Monday at the funeral home, where a visitation and song service will be held each night at 7 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
