Shirley died Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Avera Creighton Care Centre, Creighton, NE. Shirley was an only child. Shirley attended 124 Elementary Schools while traveling with her parents as her Dad built highways across America. She spent her high school years living with her Grandparents, Margaret and William Hart. She graduated from Creighton (NE.) High School in 1942. Shirley died Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Avera Creighton Care Centre, Creighton, NE. Shirley was an only child. Shirley attended 124 Elementary Schools while traveling with her parents as her Dad built highways across America. She spent her high school years living with her Grandparents, Margaret and William Hart. She graduated from Creighton (NE.) High School in 1942. During World War II, she worked at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital as a Communications Tele-Typist. On October 8, 1943 Shirley married Loring Jenkins at Pierce, Nebraska. To this union, Corrine Janovec, Denise Cox, Lana Lea Swearingin and Skip Jenkins were born. Sandra Roark was her special child for 7 years before Shirley and Loring's children were born, adopted- in -love and cherished all her life. Shirley worked at the Plainview Public Hospital for 30 years. She studied and became a certified operating room technician in 1973. Shirley was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Order of Eastern Star. In 1985, she married Louie Petersen and enjoyed 25 years of traveling, dancing, golfing and appreciating each other. Shirley was a fiesty Irish Lady; she met many challenges head-on, lost some but won most. She imprinted our hearts and will be forever loved and missed. Shirley is survived by: daughters, Corrine (Dave) Janovec of Plainview, NE., Denise Cox of Plainview, NE., Lana Swearingin of Muldrow, OK. and son, Skip Jenkins of Plainview, NE.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; close friends and acquaintances. Shirley was preceded in death by: parents; husbands, Loring Jenkins and Louie Petersen; daughter, Sandra; and twin sons, Lonny and Ronny. Burial was in The Pleasant View Cemetery, Plainview, NE.
