Carmel hospital, Columbus, after a brief illness of obstruction of the bowels. She was admitted to the hospital Dec. 3, but did not undergo surgical treatment. Miss Secrest was a graduate of Cambridge high school. For several months she was employed in the office of the FERA and WPA in Guernsey county and was later transferred to Columbus. In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Lance Secrest, of the home. The body was removed to the McMillen and Scott funeral home, South Tenth street. ----- The Jeffersonian, December 9, 1936, page six: Miss Secrest funeral Rev. Father Clement Crock, pastor of St. Benedict's Catholic church, conducted funeral services for Miss Shirley Secrest Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elton Secrest, 719 South Eighth street. Burial was made in Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville. Miss Secrest died Monday morning at Mt. Carmel hospital, Columbus, after a brief illness.
