Description	:	Shirley Jean (Parker) Soens, 82, of Ahwatukee, AZ, was born November 25,1935 and passed from this world on Aug. 7, 2018. She passed as she wanted, peacefully, in her sleep. Her wish was to come back to the Huntley Project. She was born in Pompeys Pillar and had spent most of her life in Ballantine and wished to have her ashes buried near her family and friends. Read More	Shirley Jean (Parker) Soens, 82, of Ahwatukee, AZ, was born November 25,1935 and passed from this world on Aug. 7, 2018. She passed as she wanted, peacefully, in her sleep. Her wish was to come back to the Huntley Project. She was born in Pompeys Pillar and had spent most of her life in Ballantine and wished to have her ashes buried near her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Walter Parker as well as her sisters Audrey Parker and Neoma White. Her husband Francis in 1987 and her son David in 2006 also preceded her. Shirley is survived by her daughter Gwyn (Bryan) Farber of Chandler AZ., and numerous relatives and friends. After Francis passed, she joined the church and renewed many friendships and resumed playing the accordion in church. She loved the music and people she played it with. She loved walking with her dog and visiting with the occasional neighbor she would see along the way. She has been in assisted living in Arizona the last 5-1/2 years, where she was often heard telling stories of Montana to her caregivers and new friends in the Pecos Senior Center. On occasion she did bring out the accordion and play for the residents of the homes. Her favorite activities at the Center were Wii Bowling on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and lunch. She didn’t like the desert heat or the block walls used for privacy fences but she did occasionally enjoy the pool, rides on the Spyder, picking citrus straight from the trees and spending time with all the dogs. When birthdays came around, she loved going to Famous Daves for BBQ.
