Description	:	Shirley Hoffer, 80, of Winner, SD passed away on November 4th, 2020 at the Avera Rosebud Country Care Center in Gregory, SD. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 9th, 2020 at 2:00PM at the United Methodist Church in Winner, SD. Burial will follow in the Winner City Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Shirley Joan Chambers was born August 25, 1940 in the Burke Memorial Hospital to Bert and Alice (Dummer) Chambers. As a baby, her parents, and 4 siblings moved from Bonesteel, SD to a ranch north of Newport, NE then later to a ranch north of Stuart, NE. This is where she began her first grade in school. The next spring her parents purchased a ranch near Millboro, SD where she completed her grade school education at a country school. On June 26th, 1955 she was united in marriage to Richard Hoffer in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church south of Colome. They lived on a farm near Millboro, SD. To this union four children were born Rodney, Debra, Roger, and Scott. They bought a farm near Clearfield, SD where she was always busy with a large garden. Shirley loved her flowers, raising chickens, milking cows, and working in the fields. She also loved being outdoors. Later she worked various jobs in Winner. Due to her failing health they moved to Winner in 2003. In 2018 she moved to the Platte Care Center until January 2020 when she moved to the Gregory Health Care Center. She leaves to mourn her husband of 65 years, daughter Debra Shreeve, son Scott (Deb) Hoffer. Grandkids; Trisha Jons, Angy (Jim) Murphy, Russell (Sarah) Hoffer, Craig (Kelly) Hoffer, Sarah (Tim) Novotny. Nikki (Shannon) Whitten, & Marie (Nathan) Lapsley. Great Grandkids; Isabella, Isaiah, Lijah, & Harley Jons; Baylor and Blayke Murphy. Tayshaun, Sadie, & Oakley Hoffer. Nancy Novotny & Scarlett Hoffer. Tyler & Emma Berg, Ava Lapsley, Shaylin & Pryce Whitten. Sisters Fern Kramer and Leora Emme and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her 2 sons Roger and Rodney, her parents, 2 brothers Wayne and Clyde. Son-in-law Roy Shreeve, brother-in-law Bill Emme and Maurice Kramer and nephew Tom Kramer. - Mason Funeral Home —————————————————————- Her son Rodney’s obituary: Rodney Allen Hoffer, 60 of Rapid City, South Dakota died November 22, 2016 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family. Rod was born February 15, 1956 to Richard and Shirley (Chambers) Hoffer in Winner, South Dakota. He grew up and graduated from Winner High School. He met and fell in love with his high school sweet heart, Judy VanMatre. They were married February 28, 1975 and resided in Winner most of their married life. They were blessed with 41 years of marriage. To this union they had two children, Nichole and Marie. Rod loved spending time with his grandchildren and his four legged companions. He was an over the road truck driver. To pass his time on the road his favorite thing to do was write stories for his family. Rod and Judy moved to Rapid City in 2009 to be closer to their grandchildren. Rod worked for Western Provisions out of Sioux Falls at the time of his passing. Rod is survived by his wife, Judy Hoffer of Rapid City, SD; daughters, Nichole (Shannon) Whitten of Pelion, SC and Marie (Nathan) Lapsley of Rapid City; his parents, Richard and Shirley Hoffer of Winner, SD; grandchildren, Shaylin Joe Whitten, Pryce Michael Allen Whitten, Tyler James Berg, Emma Nichole Berg, Ava Christine Lapsley and Sage Marie Lapsley; sister, Debra Hoffer Shreeve and brother, Scott (Deb) Hoffer all of Winner; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bert and Alice Chambers and paternal grandparents, John and Louise Hoffer; brother, Roger Hoffer. Visitation was from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, Monday, November 28 at Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche. Funeral services were held 11:00 am, Monday at Kline Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Paul Howard officiating. - Kline Funeral Chapel
